Bio/CV: 

Sarah Lee (she/her/hers) is a third year PhD candidate in History at the University of California, Berkeley and is a spatial historian of rural California. She received her Bachelors in History from the University of California, Merced in 2020, where her research focused on the development of Merced’s first professional police department from 1870 to 1890 and its impact on local understandings of race, class, and space. Her dissertation expands on this, exploring the interconnected histories of police professionalization and racial segregation in California’s Central Valley from the late 1880s to the 1970s.
