Bio/CV: 

Lydia Mathews is a PhD candidate in History whose research focuses on the intersections of gender, immigration, and public health. Her dissertation examines local enforcement of anti-prostitution measures in the North American western borderlands during the late nineteenth and early twentieth centuries, connecting anti-vice enforcement to larger discussions of police power during this period. Prior to Berkeley, Lydia received her BA in History and English from Vassar College and MAs in both Women’s Studies and History from Brandeis University.
