Bio/CV: 

John S.W. Park is Professor of Asian American Studies at UC Santa Barbara.  He finished his Ph.D. in Jurisprudence and Social Policy in 2000, and he has published four scholarly books in immigration law and in American immigration history: Elusive Citizenship (NYU, 2004); Probationary Americans (Routledge, 2005) [co-authored with his brother Edward]; Illegal Migrations and the Huckleberry Finn Problem (Temple, 2013); and Immigration Law and Society (Polity, 2018).  He is currently working on two more scholarly books, including one on the emigration of Americans to Korea in the late 19th century, and then the subsequent migrations of Koreans to the United States.  He’ll be trying to finish that one while he’s a Visiting Scholar at the Center for Law and Society.
