Bio/CV:
Elizabeth Hargrett is a PhD candidate in the Department of History at UC Berkeley, and a graduate student researcher at the Center for Science, Technology, Medicine, and Society (CSTMS), and a co-organizer of the STS Futures Initiative. Though her previous research has covered medical jurisprudence in Gold Rush-era California and eugenic sterilization in postwar Georgia, her dissertation project examines the co-production of North Carolina's highway infrastructure, tourism industries, and prison labor systems in the late 19th and early 20th centuries.
