Masha Guzzo is a sociologist and PhD candidate at the Institute for Social Research in Frankfurt am Main (Germany), where she is affiliated with the doctoral program Dialectics of Participation and supervised by Stephan Lessenich. Her doctoral research, funded by the Hans Böckler Foundation, examines contemporary right-wing authoritarian protest mobilizations in East Germany, combining perspectives from Critical Theory, psychoanalytic social psychology, and social movement studies. Drawing on ethnographic research in far-right milieus, her work explores the affective and social dynamics of authoritarian mobilisations and the ways in which they generate and sustain cohesion among diverse actors. Since 2024, she has been a visiting researcher at the Else Frenkel-Brunswik Institute in Leipzig (Germany). Beyond her doctoral research, she serves as Managing Director of the Institute for Protest and Social Movement Studies (Institut für Protest- und Bewegungsforschung), is an editorial board member of Forschungsjournal Soziale Bewegungen, and is actively involved in academic networks on political sociology, right-wing studies, and qualitative methods, particularly depth hermeneutics. She studied philosophy, theatre studies, and sociology at the University of Palermo, Ludwig Maximilian University of Munich, and Trinity College Dublin."
