Bio/CV:
Roberta Fischli is a PhD Candidate at the University of St. Gallen, Switzerland. Prior to her stay at Berkeley, she was a Visiting Researcher at Georgetown Law, and a Research and Teaching Assistant at the School of Economics and Political Science (SEPS) at the University of St. Gallen. She holds a Masters Degree in Political Science (with a special focus on Political Economy and Philosophy), and a Bachelors Degree in Political Science and Modern History from the University of Zurich, Switzerland. She is an affiliate of the Digital Politics Lab (Humboldt University, Germany), a member of the Digitale Gesellschaft Schweiz, the Future Society Association, and the vice ethics chair at the Data Cooperative PosMo. Roberta’s dissertation analyzes how the political economy around data is impacting and challenging established ideas of freedom and power, and discusses what elements a conception of digital freedom should possess. Her work is situated at the intersection of political economy, legal theory, and political theory, with a particular interest in how society can leverage data-driven innovations for the common good. Her work has been published in the European Journal of Political Theory, Morals and Machines, Republik, Neue Zürcher Zeitung, and Philosophy Now.
