Mission Statement

The Center for Law and Work’s mission is to provide a core institutional center for student and faculty professional and scholarly development around the law of work, and to promote cross-disciplinary scholarship to address the pressing employment related policy concerns of today.  CLAW builds on Berkeley’s strengths in the law of the workplace, enhances student experiences across Berkeley Law’s many programs, and produces high-quality and timely research to influence policy and public debate.

CLAW’s goal is to create an intellectual community among those who study law and work at the Law School and across the Berkeley campus, and to connect scholars to lawyers, activists, and policymakers. This approach of academic and practice cross-pollination is a proven strategy for generating innovative research and policy solutions.
