In 2026 CSLS awarded three Frances S. Coles summer research grants of $7,000 each. These research grants are designed to assist mid-career graduate students (prior to advancing to candidacy) who are pursuing independent research related to law and society. These awards allow recipients to spend the summer free from other work obligations, enabling them to focus on producing a substantive research product, such as an article to submit for publication.
2026 CSLS summer grant awardees are: Audrey Augenbraum, a PhD student in Sociology; Joanna Cardenas, a PhD student in African American and African Diaspora Studies; and Margot Lipin, a PhD student in Jurisprudence and Social Policy.
